Blueberry Tips

Blueberries contain vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants that provide notable health benefits. For example, blueberries are rich in vitamin K, which plays an important role in promoting heart health. The vitamin is also important to bone health and blood clotting. But the truth is, berries carry mold spores that cause them to go deteriorate very quickly. Mold can spread through a whole basket of berries in a flash.

Good news: You can easily kill off mold and bacteria with a quick vinegar and water bath, then dry off the berries before they go in the fridge.

Here's how to do it: Wash berries in bowl with 3 cups water mixed with 1 cup white vinegar. Drain in colander and rinse under running water. Place berries in salad spinner lined with paper towels. Spin until berries are completely dry. Store berries in paper towel-lined sealable container, keeping lid slightly open to allow release of excess moisture. And most importantly, enjoy!
